Insanity and Not Much Else

I don't have much to say these days.  Had some bad greens in a shake a few days ago.  Worst.  Thing.  Ever.

Doing Insanity, so this image makes me giggle.

It's going well, and I'm glad to have Alex as a partner in this as always.  Continuing to lose weight.

Erm... oh!  Also love this image.

Damn right.  So, uh, see ya'll in 13 days with results and pictures?

Month 3 Results

I just wanted to start out this entry by thanking everyone who's been offering me support and beautiful words of encouragement lately.  It really has helped, because this month has been rough.  Most of all, I would like to thank Alex, who stays endlessly optimistic about me and my progress despite my tendancy not to be very responsive in the moment.  It's easy to get discouraged, but this month has proven to me that I am mighty.

Here are the numbers:

30/31 days working out (only one day missed!)
357,046 steps (92,451 more than last month!)
163.52 miles (44.26 miles more than last month!)
1,334 push-ups (holy moly!)
2,579 body weight squats (245 more than last month!)
29 days meeting 10,000 steps goal
29 days meeting 5 miles goal

What an improvement, right?  Well, wind, prepare to vacate sails.

Starting weight: 226.4 lbs.
Ending weight: 226.4 lbs.
Weight change: 0

That's right.  No weight change.  In fact, this month I struggled with weight ballooning back.  I was actually terrified that I was going to post up a weight gain in this entry, and I'm thrilled that I'm not.

Back to Alex's encouragement.  He figured out through my tracking that though I've not lost any weight this month, I had lost 2.7% body fat according to my FitBit Aria scale.  So, I'm the same weight, but mightier!  Not bad, eh?  Would like some weight loss, though...

Anyway, Primal eating didn't go exactly as planned, but I definitely drastically cut down on the refined carbs.  Let's see if it pays off as I push through another month.

Also, here are some pictures - the left from eight days ago, the right from this morning.  Not much difference in eight days except for the loss in water weight, but next month should snow some clear differences!

Documentation

They say the only difference between science and screwing around is writing it down, so...

One week to go, and here are my numbers so far:

23/24 days working out
254,035 (96% of last month!)
115.53 miles (over 68% of last month!)
953 push-ups (full body this time!)
1605 squats (over 68 % of last month!)
21 days meeting 10,000 steps (2 more than last month!)
21 days meeting 5 miles (6 more than last month!)

The scale is moving, just not in the direction I want.  Alex points out that I'm gaining muscle, which is absolutely true, but I'm also snacking like crazy.  Whatever.  I'll get it together.

But I'm so hungry.

What?  I didn't say anything.  Also, here's pictures:

Burnout

I'm burnt out.

"Write a blog post," I tell myself, but my thoughts aren't really landing anywhere at the moment.  I'm just grateful I have some days off after today.

Maybe winter is getting me down.

Maybe daylight savings time is kicking my ass.

Maybe this is just part of a normal cycle of feeling.

Maybe this is just a wall I have to push past.

The scale isn't moving.  I feel stronger than ever.  11/12 days working out in the month of March.

Waiting for inspirtation.

Waiting for motivation.

Waiting for energy.

Waiting...

Partners

I've posted about My One Man Support System before, but not lately.  Alex and I have been kind of doing our own things for a while, hitting the treadmill alternately and having different goals in mind for ourselves.  That was all well and good, but I have to say that I'm really glad to be back on the same track with him.

We're re-doing the 100 push-ups and 200 squats system, only together.  Also, he's encouraged me to do the full push-ups, which makes me feel amazing and I might not have done it - surely not as well - without his encouragement.  We're doing really well overall.  We slept in this morning instead of working out at 5:30 AM, but we fully intend on spending our "date night" doing our workout.

I can't stress the importance of having a partner in this process.  I was doing fine supporting myself since the new year, but really and truly it makes a difference in how hard I work and how accountable I feel when Alex is by my side, pushing along with me.  No matter what your goals are, I hope you have a partner in it.  It's hard, but not impossible, to go it alone.

Because I know he's reading this I want to say thank you, sweetheart, for being such a great partner!

My handsome partner. :)

Month 2 Results

I'm really proud of myself today.  I'm stronger, more mentally tough, and I'm working steadily toward all of my goals!

Here's the numbers (and comparisons!):

24/28 days working out (same amount of days, slightly higher proportion!)
264,595 steps (22,570 steps more than last month!)
119.26 miles (13.91 miles more!)
1383 kneeling push-ups (278 more!)
2334 body weight squats (748 more!)
161 push-ups (all-new!)
19 days 10,000 steps goal met (8 more days!)
15 days 5 miles goal met (9 more days!)

Starting weight: 231.3 lbs.
End weight: 226.5 lbs.
Weight change: -4.6 (.1 less loss than last month - which had three more days!)

Yay!  If I could lose at this healthy rate until my projected wedding date, I'd lose 85 pounds overall!  Geez, that would make me weight 151.  I can't remember the last time I weighed that much, and my goal is more like 170, which I think is much more realistic given that I'm bound to hit a plateau or two.

Still!  Go me!

I'm going to try to eat Primal this month (NOT Paleo because fuck no dairy).  You can learn more about Primal at marksdailyapple.com.  It will be a nice way to detox for a month without starving myself.  Admittedly, I do have a high-sugar/carb diet and it does need a bit of a revamp.

Wish me luck!
